We had previously tried to book the Bambu where we had stayed on our previous trip, but they were full that first night. We went by and spoke with the owner, Oscar (who bakes the great pizza!), and he found us place at a friend's hotel for the first night. We then moved to Bambu for the second night.

On Cayo Beach for breakfast...

Hooray - Doug's favorite cabana is still there! Delicious breakfast for two for somewhere around $5-$6.
Sunday morning, Oscar walked us up the hill to introduce us to his friend, Julius - an Ecuadorian who lived and worked many years in Canada... great guy, and he has exactly the location we would like!

Sunday 6/25, view of Puerto Cayo from Julius' 3rd floor balcony...perfect distance to beach, his whole property is covered in tropical fruit trees, and there is a vacant lot like his next to his nextdoor neighbor!
He also gave us the number of his friend, Tulia, who is from Colombia and sells real estate in Puerto Cayo. She met with us and showed us a property for sale along the same hill as Julius' house. Needs some upgrading, but at an asking of $75k, that would probably be do-able.

Sideview of the same house...

Futbol field being lovingly tended (hand watered!) in a development Tulia took us to.

Tulia wanted us to see what the homes were like where she lives in Cayo Beach. For around $75k, you have 2 beds/2 baths, kitchen with granite; and upstairs a complete apartment with 1 & 1 and beautiful little kitchen/living area
